DAMASCUS (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 08th October, 2018) The Syrian Army has closed the crossing point between the northern Aleppo province and the city of Manbij, controlled by the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), due to the SDF shooting toward the army's position that claimed one soldier's life, local media reported on Monday, citing sources with knowledge of the situation.

According to the Al Watan newspaper, the shooting that caused the soldier's death was carried out from the SDF territories in the vicinity of the Abu Kahf village. This triggered a quick reaction from the Syrian Army, and the crossing point was closed.

According to the media outlet, shootings are uncommon in the region.

Manbij has been controlled by the SDF since August 2016 when the SDF captured the city from the terrorist groups, including the Islamic State (banned in Russia), which took it over in January 2014.
