Latvian Police Say Detained 5 People for Aggressive Behavior at Polling Stations

The Latvian State Police detained five individuals on Saturday due to violent conduct at polling stations, State Police representative Simona Gravite said on Saturday.

RIGA (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 06th October, 2018) The Latvian State Police detained five individuals on Saturday due to violent conduct at polling stations, State Police representative Simona Gravite said on Saturday.

On Saturday, Latvians are electing 100 lawmakers to the country's parliament.

"The police have registered separate cases, in which conflict situations emerged. There have been a total of five cases. In four cases, administrative proceedings have been launched," Gravite told reporters.

According to the State Police representative, the law enforcement officers have received 24 reports of violations of canvassing rules, with several reports have not been confirmed.

The pole stations across Latvia are set to close at 8:00 p.m. local time (17:00 GMT).
