Russia's Imports From Non-CIS States Grew by 8.1% in January-September - Customs Service

Russia's imports from the countries not belonging to the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) increased by 8.1 percent in January-September, compared to the same period last year, totaling $156.5 billion, Russia's Federal Customs Service (FTS) said Friday.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 05th October, 2018) Russia's imports from the countries not belonging to the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) increased by 8.1 percent in January-September, compared to the same period last year, totaling $156.5 billion, Russia's Federal Customs Service (FTS) said Friday.

"According to preliminary customs statistics, imports of goods from non-CIS countries amounted to $156.5 billion in January - September 2018, a 8.1-percent increase compared to the same period in 2017," the statement read.

In September, the total value of goods imported from the non-CIS states reached $17.2 billion, the figure being 7.9 percent higher than in August, the statement specified.

Textile and footwear imports decreased by 25 percent in September, as compared to the previous months, and stood at $1.1 billion. Imports of chemicals dropped by 10.9 percent to $2.9 billion, machinery imports decreased by 6.6 percent to $8.9 billion and food imports fell by 6.2 percent, reaching $1.6 billion, the customs data showed.
