IOC Has No Information About Reported Hacking Attacks On Sports Federations - President

BUENOS AIRES (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 05th October, 2018) The International Olympic Committee (IOC) does not have information about alleged hacking attacks on resources of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and it's own systems, IOC President Thomas Bach said on Thursday.

Earlier in the day, Attorney for the Western District of Pennsylvania Scott Brady said that at least 250 athletes from 30 different countries as well as such sports agencies as WADA, the US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), FIFA and 35 other anti-doping and spots federations had become victims of cyber attacks over the past several years.

"We have no information on this particular instance and we hope to get more. We only know this from media reports. We have not been contacted by these different agencies. We know that we have been the target of numerous attacks in the last two or three years and not only ... And as a result of this we have improved our defense system for cyber security. We are waiting for information from different security services," Bach said at a press conference.

WADA said in a statement to Sputnik on Thursday that it has no evidence of any breach of its systems since 2016.

Earlier in the day, the Dutch Defense Ministry said that the country's intelligence services had prevented a Russian cyberattack on the Organization for Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW). London and Amsterdam issued a joint statement decrying alleged Russian cyberattacks. The UK Foreign Office also accused the Russian foreign intelligence service of organizing numerous cyberattacks in international organizations, including on the servers of WADA.

Amid mounting allegations, Russia's Foreign Ministry said on Thursday that Western spy mania was running rampant, stressing that Moscow has not and will not launch such attacks, as it has no reason to do so.
