EU Council to Look Into Alleged Russian Cyberattack on Chemical Arms Regulator - Tusk

European Council President Donald Tusk said he would raise the issue of cybersecurity at the EU body's next meeting after the Dutch government alleged Russia tried to hack the international chemical arms regulator.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 04th October, 2018) European Council President Donald Tusk said he would raise the issue of cybersecurity at the EU body's next meeting after the Dutch government alleged Russia tried to hack the international chemical arms regulator.

"On behalf of the EU, I want to fully condemn this attack and express our complete solidarity with those affected. I will put the issue of cyber security on the agenda of the next European Council," he said in a statement circulated by the Council.

Tusk repeated claims made by the Dutch and UK authorities that the suspected attack on the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons in the Hague "was carried out by Kremlin intelligence services."

No proof was given to support this allegation. The Russian Foreign Ministry responded by accusing Western governments of rampant "spy mania."
