Russia's Gazprom, Roscosmos Discuss Using LNG for Rocket Fuel - Energy Giant

Russia's energy giant Gazprom and State Space Corporation Roscosmos have discussed the possibilities of using liquefied natural gas (LNG) to fuel spacecraft, Chairman of Gazprom's Board of Directors Viktor Zubkov said on Wednesday.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 03rd October, 2018) Russia's energy giant Gazprom and State Space Corporation Roscosmos have discussed the possibilities of using liquefied natural gas (LNG) to fuel spacecraft, Chairman of Gazprom's board of Directors Viktor Zubkov said on Wednesday.

"Our Roscosmos is also interested. We have talked with Roscosmos head [Dmitry Rogozin], who did not rule out the possibility of using the liquefied natural gas for rockets," Zubkov said at the Russian Energy Week.

The Russian Energy Week (REW) forum, which aims to promote international energy cooperation, opened in Moscow earlier on Wednesday and will last through Saturday. The event is expected to be attended by over 20 ministers and Russian President Vladimir Putin. The Rossiya Segodnya International Information Agency is a media partner of the event.
