Polish companies plan to purchase pollock, codfish and salmon in Russia's Primorsky Territory and then transport the fish to the country via the Northern Sea Route, the territory's administration said in a statement on Wednesday.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 03rd October, 2018) Polish companies plan to purchase pollock, codfish and salmon in Russia's Primorsky Territory and then transport the fish to the country via the Northern Sea Route, the territory's administration said in a statement on Wednesday.

Earlier on Wednesday, Primorsky Territory Deputy Governor Valentin Dubinin met with a Polish delegation in Vladivostok. The Polish delegation comprised the staff of the Polish Consulate General in Irkutsk, the Polish Foreign Ministry and representatives of business circles, according to the statement.

"The Baltic Sea is not same rich in biological resources, that is why we would like to purchase your pollock, codfish and salmon and then ship it to Poland via the Northern Sea Route," an official from the Department of Economic Cooperation of the Polish Foreign Ministry said, as quoted by the administration.

Russia's Primorsky Territory accounts for about 20 percent of Russia's total catch.

In September, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered that the transportation between Europe and the Pacific Rim should be improved with the help of the Northern Sea Route, adding that its annual flow of goods should be increased to 80 million tonnes.
