Over 2,000 Trucks Cross Crimean Bridge in Past 24 Hours After Restriction Lift - Statement

Over 2,000 trucks have crossed the Crimean Bridge, connecting the peninsula with the Russian mainland, over the past 24 hours, since the truck traffic has been launched, the Crimean Bridges's information center said in a statement on Tuesday.

SIMFEROPOL (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 02nd October, 2018) Over 2,000 trucks have crossed the Crimean Bridge, connecting the peninsula with the Russian mainland, over the past 24 hours, since the truck traffic has been launched, the Crimean Bridges's information center said in a statement on Tuesday.

On the night into Monday, restrictions on truck traffic on the new A290 highway running via the Crimean Bridge were lifted.

"During the first 24 hours after the restrictions' lift, 2,223 cargo vehicles have crossed the Crimean Bridge, including 1,137 heading to Taman, and 1,086 heading to Kerch," the statement read.

Almost 10,000 passenger cars, cargo vehicles and buses have crossed the Crimean Bridge over the past day.

The Crimean Bridge connects the Taman Peninsula and the Kerch Peninsula, and is the longest in Russia at 19 kilometers (11.8 miles). The road section of the bridge was opened in May, while the railway traffic is set to start in December 2019.
