WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 01st October, 2018) Special US presidential envoy Brett McGurk said in a statement on Monday he spoke with Iraqi Parliament Speaker Mohamed Halbusi about his upcoming trip to Egypt and the situation in the Iraqi city of Mosul.

"With new Iraq Parliament Speaker... discussed his recent visits to Kuwait, minority Christian communities near Mosul, and upcoming visit to Egypt," McGurk revealed in a Twitter message.

McGurk, who serves as the president's special envoy to the US-led coalition to counter the Islamic State (terrorist group, outlawed in Russia) also stressed that the coalition and NATO training mission will fully support Iraq's long-term stabilization after the defeat of the terror group.

The US-led coalition of more than 70 members is conducting military operations against the Islamic State terrorist group in Iraq and Syria. The coalition's activities in Iraq are conducted in cooperation with Iraqi officials, but those in Syria are not authorized by the government of President Bashar Assad or the United Nations Security Council.
