All-High Speed Trains Connecting Tokyo, Western Japan Suspended Over Typhoon - Company

TOKYO (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 30th September, 2018) Central Japan Railway Company has announced that high-speed� trains connecting Tokyo metropolitan area with western and southwestern Japan will be suspended on Sunday because of the approaching typhoon Trami.

According to Japan Meteorological Agency, wind speeds in the center of the typhoon vary from 45 to 60 meters per second. Trami is currently moving toward northeastern Japan and is expected to hit the western, central and eastern parts of Japan's main Honshu island. The latest media reports suggest that a total of 51 people have been injured so far, with most of them suffering cuts from glass shards.

According to the company's statement, all high-speed Shinkansen trains connecting Tokyo with the west of Japan will be temporarily suspended.

The company said that the last Shinkansen train would arrive in Tokyo at 04:47 p.m. local time (08:47 GMT), adding that depending on the impact of the typhoon, further disruptions might follow on Monday.

The Kyodo news Agency reported citing East Japan Railway Company that trains would not be running in the Tokyo metropolitan area after 08:00 p.m.

Over 1,120 flights have been canceled due to the typhoon, with Kansai International Airport in the city of Osaka announcing that it closed its runways at 11:00 a.m. and until 06:00 a.m. on Monday.
