MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 28th September, 2018) Russia calls for a dialogue between Serbia and Kosovo and will back any solution that Serbia finds acceptable, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Friday at the UN General Assembly.
"Kosovo armed forces are being formed. Agreements reached by Belgrade and Pristina with EU mediation are violated. Russia calls on the sides to engage in a dialogue in line with UNSC Resolution 1244 and will support a solution that Serbia will accept," he said.
He also accused the United States of "transforming the UN-approved military presence in Kosovo into an American base."
"We are concerned about another rift that is opening in Europe - this time in the Balkans where countries are being dragged into NATO. European and US leaders have been personally campaigning for Balkan nations' membership of the North Atlantic Alliance, while condemning interference in their own home affairs," the minister added.
