Ukraine is under illusion that it can occupy the eastern Luhansk and Donetsk regions in violation of the Minsk accords and should be discouraged from attempting to do so by its western allies, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Friday at the UN General Assembly.
MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 28th September, 2018) Ukraine is under illusion that it can occupy the eastern Luhansk and Donetsk regions in violation of the Minsk accords and should be discouraged from attempting to do so by its western allies, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Friday at the UN General Assembly.
"We support the OSCE mission in Ukraine and are open to giving it the protection of UN [troops]. But instead of following through on the Minsk deal, instead of a dialogue with Donetsk and Luhansk, Kiev is under illusion it can send western-backed occupation forces to Donbas and increasingly threatens to use force. Those sponsoring the authorities in Kiev must bring their proteges back to their senses, make them end the Donbas blockade and stop discriminating against national minorities across Ukraine," he said.
