North, South Korea Agree to Celebrate 2007 Summit Next Week - Seoul

North and South Korea have agreed to hold joint celebrations next week to mark the anniversary of their 2007 summit, the Unification Ministry in Seoul said Friday.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 28th September, 2018) North and South Korea have agreed to hold joint celebrations next week to mark the anniversary of their 2007 summit, the Unification Ministry in Seoul said Friday.

"The South and the North reached a consensus that they will hold celebratory events to mark the 11th anniversary of the adoption of the October 4 Declaration from Oct. 4-6 in Pyongyang," it said, as quoted by South Korea's Yonhap news agency.

The agreement was reportedly reached at a weekly meeting of the joint liaison office, co-chaired by deputy ministers for unification of North and South Korea, in the town of Kaesong north of the border.

The summit in Pyongyang more than a decade ago saw South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun and North Korea's leader Kim Jong Il pledge to cooperate on rebuilding trust and easing tensions between their countries.
