Designed to encapsulate Emirati traditional architecture, the Abu Dhabi pavilion at the 16th edition of the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition, ADIHEX, reflects the diversity of the UAE's cultural heritage.
ABU DHABI, (Pakistan Point News - 28th Sep, 2018) Designed to encapsulate Emirati traditional architecture, the Abu Dhabi pavilion at the 16th edition of the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition, ADIHEX, reflects the diversity of the UAE's cultural heritage.
Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, DCT Abu Dhabi, is participating in the event held from 25th to 29th September at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.
Offering many heritage activities, the pavilion welcomes visitors with Arabic coffee served in a traditional majlis, highlighting two important elements inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Showcasing palm trees as a national symbol, the pavilion features a section that displays the different types of dates grown in the UAE, traditional date products, and tools used in planting and harvesting them.
Visitors can also participate in the pavilion’s interactive activities, such as the Falconry Experience, which includes help from experts. Underlining traditional crafts, artisans at the pavilion demonstrate their skills in crafting traditional tools, such as pottery, fishing tools and utensils, as well as traditional crafts like Tali, embroidery and Al Sadu. Al Sadu is also an element inscribed on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Targeting children and school students, the pavilion offers a wide range of educational and recreational activities, including workshops on painting, colouring, making heritage items, falconry, serving Arabic coffee and more.
The pavilion also highlights a collection of DCT Abu Dhabi’s publications on heritage, including the books on the seven intangible heritage elements officially recognised by UNESCO; falconry, Al Ayyalah, Al Razfa, Al Azi, Al Sadu, Al Majlis, and Gahwa (Arabic coffee).
To promote Emirati heritage, Al Ayyalah and Al Razfa groups present their interactive live performances, while urging visitors to join them.
