Iranian Foreign Minister Says Israel Maintains Own Secret Nuclear Weapons Program

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 28th September, 2018) Israel should disclose its illegal nuclear weapons program to international inspectors, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Friday following Israel's claims that it had found another facility used for Tehran's alleged nuclear weapons program.

"No arts & craft show will ever obfuscate that Israel is only regime in our region with a *secret* and *undeclared* nuclear weapons program - including an *actual atomic arsenal*. Time for Israel to fess up and open its illegal nuclear weapons program to international inspectors," Zarif wrote on Twitter.

On Thursday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said during his address at the UN General Assembly that Israel had discovered Iran's second secret atomic warehouse used to store nuclear-related material. Netanyahu also said Iranian officials had been cleaning up the warehouse, which contained up to 300 tonnes of material.

The Israeli prime minister said he had shared the information with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and called on the watchdog to investigate the findings.

In April, Netanyahu claimed that Israel had captured the so-called Atomic Archive of Iran, allegedly proving that Tehran preserved its nuclear weapons program, something repeatedly denied by the Iranian authorities.

The recent escalation between Israel and Iran over the latter's nuclear program followed the agreement reached by the participants of the Iran nuclear deal to set up a special mechanism allowing EU counties to continue its cooperation with Iran despite US sanctions that are being reimposed on the middle Eastern country after Washington's withdrawal from the deal.

Moreover, the remaining participants of the multilateral agreement, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), reaffirmed that Iran was fully compliant with the accord, something previously confirmed by the IAEA.
