Probe of Drone Imports Targets Patent Infringement Charges by US Firms - Trade Tribunal

A complaint by a US drone manufacturer of patent infringement by foreign-based competitors has triggered an investigation that was announced by the International Trade Commission (ITC) in a press release on Thursday.

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 27th September, 2018) A complaint by a US drone manufacturer of patent infringement by foreign-based competitors has triggered an investigation that was announced by the International Trade Commission (ITC) in a press release on Thursday.

ITC Commissioners voted to initiate the probe based on a complaint filed last month by Autel Robotics USA in the state of Washington, the release explained.

"The complaint alleges violations of section 337 of the Tariff Act of 1930 in the importation into the United States and sale of certain unmanned aerial vehicles and components thereof that infringe patents asserted by the complainant," the release stated.

The complainant requests that the ITC issue a limited exclusion order and cease and desist orders against a Chinese company and its subsidiaries and a second company based in the Netherlands, according the release.
