Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will hold a meeting with EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini on the sidelines of the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly, which is currently underway in New York, Russia's Permanent Representative to the European Union Vladimir Chizhov told Sputnik on Tuesday.
BRUSSELS (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 25th September, 2018) Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will hold a meeting with EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini on the sidelines of the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly, which is currently underway in New York, Russia's Permanent Representative to the European Union Vladimir Chizhov told Sputnik on Tuesday.
"The meeting between [Russian Foreign] Minister Sergey Lavrov and Federica Mogherini on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly's session in New York is planned in the near future," Chizhov said.
On Monday, Mogherini said in a statement, published on the EU official website, that she was going to discuss the implementation of the memorandum on the stabilization of situation in the Syrian de-escalation zone of Idlib with Lavrov and his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly on Tuesday.
The memorandum, which Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan signed on September 17, envisages setting up a demilitarized zone in Idlib by October 15.
