WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 20th September, 2018) President Donald Trump nominated a former US military adviser to serve as his special representative on nonproliferation, the White House said in a press release.
"Trump today announced his intent to nominate... Jeffrey L. Eberhardt of Wisconsin, to be Special Representative of the President for Non-Proliferation, with the rank of ambassador," the release said on Wednesday.
Eberhardt, the release added, served as a senior military adviser for the Pentagon with assignments in Europe and Asia. He is also a retired US Army officer having served as a battery commander in Schweinfurt, Germany, among other posts.
Eberhardt, who speaks Russian, also served as a Foreign Affairs Officer in the Office of Nuclear Affairs, Bureau of Verification, Compliance and Implementation, also at the State Department, according to the release.
