Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu and US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo spoke by phone on Tuesday to discuss the agreement reached by Ankara and Moscow on Syria's Idlib, a Turkish diplomatic source told Sputnik.
ANKARA (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 18th September, 2018) Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu and US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo spoke by phone on Tuesday to discuss the agreement reached by Ankara and Moscow on Syria's Idlib, a Turkish diplomatic source told Sputnik.
"Our minister held telephone talks today with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, they discussed the agreement [with Russia] on Idlib," the source said.
Russian and Turkish leaders Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Monday agreed in Sochi to create by October 15 a demilitarized zone along the contact line of the armed opposition and government troops in the Syrian province of Idlib, and the defense ministers of the two countries signed a memorandum on stabilizing the situation in the Idlib de-escalation zone.
