MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 18th September, 2018) El Salvador and Russia are considering a bilateral military cooperation agreement, Efren Arnoldo Bernal Chevez, the ambassador of the Central American country in Moscow, told Sputnik on Tuesday.
The Russian government announced the preparation of the military agreement with El Salvador in February.
"All agreements regardless of their type are processed in a certain way. Currently this [military] agreement is at the stage of consideration by the sides," Chevez said.
According to the diplomat, the terms of the accord will not be disclosed until its signing, with the parties currently discussing legal and technical matters.
He added that no date had been set yet for the signing of this deal.
According to the Russian government, Moscow and San Salvador are planning to cooperate, in particular, on the issues related to international security, fight against terrorism and piracy, joint military training, and exchanging experience in peacekeeping under the UN auspices, among other matters.
