Doctors from Charite clinic in Berlin believe that Pyotr Verzilov, an activist of Pussy Riot punk rock band and of Voina ("War") art collective, is very likely to have been poisoned, a representative of the clinic said at a press conference on Tuesday.
BERLIN (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 18th September, 2018) Doctors from Charite clinic in Berlin believe that Pyotr Verzilov, an activist of Pussy Riot punk rock band and of Voina ("War") art collective, is very likely to have been poisoned, a representative of the clinic said at a press conference on Tuesday.
"It is true, it is highly likely that there was a poisoning. Until now we have not had grounds to consider any other causes for his [Verzilov's] condition," the clinic representative said.
The doctors came to this conclusion based on the observation, testimony of the people close to Verzilov and documents from Moscow doctors.
The German doctors have been unable to determine the poison that might have been used in this case. According to one of the doctors, it was possible to describe the state of the patient in general.
"We call this anticholinergic syndrome. There is a great number of substances that could lead to this condition," the doctor said.
According to the medics, this kind of condition may be caused by pharmaceutical drugs, herbs or recreational drugs.
The doctors added that Verzilov's situation was not life-threatening.
Last week, a friend of Verzilov told media that he had been hospitalized after he began to lose sight, speech and started to have difficulty moving. The activist was rushed to an emergency ward specializing in toxicology.
On Saturday, Russian media reported that Verzilov had been brought to a German hospital.
According to Maria Alyokhina, a member of Pussy Riot, Verzilov can see and hear, his condition, contrary to reports, did not deteriorate after he was moved to Germany.
