PMLN not to protest during President Alvi’s address to parliament today

Neither will the PMLN walk out of the parliament.

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 17th September, 2018) President Dr Arif Alvi will address a joint parliamentary session at 4pm today.

Opposition party Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) has announced not to protest during President Alvi’s address.

Media reports said that the PMLN has decided to peacefully listen to the president’s address. Neither will the PMLN walk out of the parliament.

Moreover, other opposition parties will also not protest during the president’s address.

President Dr Arif Alvi had summoned joint session of both the Houses of Majlis-e-Shoora, (Parliament) today at 4 pm.

According to constitutional provisions, the President has also to address a joint session of Parliament at the beginning of the first session of the NA after general election as well as the first sitting of the NA every parliamentary year.

The joint session scheduled for today will be the first formal session of the NA after election and swearing-in of the new Prime Minister, Speaker and the Deputy Speaker. Earlier, the session was scheduled on September 13 but it was postponed to meet again on September 17 due to death of Kulsoom Nawaz.
