Terror Groups Still Seek to Strike Soft Targets, Crowded Locations - US Homeland Security

Terrorist groups continue to inspire, enable and direct their followers to spread chaos by using homemade weapons and by striking soft targets and crowded places, the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said in a press release on Friday.

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 14th September, 2018) Terrorist groups continue to inspire, enable and direct their followers to spread chaos by using homemade weapons and by striking soft targets and crowded places, the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said in a press release on Friday.

"Terrorist groups continue to inspire, enable and direct their followers to spread chaos using homemade weapons and by striking soft targets and crowded places," the release said. "They also remain focused on... sophisticated attacks using conventional weapons as well as new technologies and tactics."

The National Terrorism Advisory System (NTAS) Bulletin on threats to the United States is being reissued and extended, the Department of Homeland Security said.

"Today, Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen M. Nielsen reissued the National Terrorism Advisory System Bulletin pertaining to the terror threat to the US homeland," the release said. "Secretary Nielsen determined it is necessary to extend the NTAS Bulletin at this time."

Nielsen took the decision after considering the current threat environment, as well as input from the DHS's intelligence and law enforcement partners, the release said. The first Bulletin was released in December 2015, the release added.
