BUENOS AIRES (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 13th September, 2018) Russia is positively assessing Argentina's G20 chairmanship that will last till the end of the year, Russian Ambassador Dmitry Feoktistov told Sputnik.
Argentina is set to host the 2018 G20 Buenos Aires summit from November 30 to December 1.
"We believe that the Argentine chairmanship is successful ... Russia has supported all the priorities set by Argentina from the very beginning," Feoktistov said on Wednesday.
The ambassador pointed out that the G20 needed a balance between economic and political issues.
"We believe that it is important to prevent a split in this important mechanism, which unites all most powerful industrial and political powers, so that the G20 will continue to act for the benefit of nations," Feoktistov said.
The diplomat said that the Russian-Argentine cooperation was developing regardless of the political environment.
"For us Argentina is a strategic partner and we are ready to cooperate, boost our economic cooperation under any government," Feoktistov said.
According to the ambassador, railway and hydropower industry are key areas of the Russian-Argentine cooperation.
Feoktistov added that Russia expected Argentina to support its draft resolutions in the United Nations, particularly those on the international information security.�
