Russian Delegates Arrive In Geneva For Syria Guarantors' Meeting With De Mistura

GENEVA (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 10th September, 2018) Russian Special Presidential Envoy for Syria Alexander Lavrentyev and Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin arrived in Geneva on Sunday to participate in the upcoming meeting of guarantor states on Syria with UN Special Envoy Staffan de Mistura, a Sputnik correspondent reported.

Representatives of Russia, Turkey and Iran will hold the meeting with de Mistura on Monday and Tuesday to review the progress in constitutional commission creation.

"We are full of optimism. There is not much to say now, we will have two days of meetings," Lavrentyev said upon his arrival.

Russia alongside Iran and Turkey are guarantors of the Syrian ceasefire. Moscow has also been assisting Damascus both through supporting the struggle against terrorist groups and providing humanitarian aid to the residents of the crisis-torn country.
