Gazprom Built 93% of Power of Siberia Pipeline - Statement

Russia's Gazprom energy giant said Wednesday in a statement that it has built 93 percent of the Power of Siberia pipeline.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 05th September, 2018) Russia's Gazprom energy giant said Wednesday in a statement that it has built 93 percent of the Power of Siberia pipeline.

"On the section of the Power of Siberia gas pipeline from Yakutia to the Russian-Chinese border, 2,010 kilometers [1,250 miles] of pipes were welded and laid, which is 93 percent of its length," the statement reads.

The company added that the construction of the two-line underwater crossing of the Power of Siberia across the Amur River stood at 78 percent completion.

In 2014, Gazprom signed a 30-year framework agreement with China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) for annual deliveries of 38 billion cubic meters (1,341 trillion cubic feet) of Russian gas through the Power of Siberia pipeline.

The pipeline will also transport gas from production centers in Irkutsk and Yakutia to consumers in Russia's Far East.
