Russian planes deployed at the Hmeimim airbase carried out strikes on the positions of the Nusra Front terrorist group (banned in Russia) in Syria's Idlib province, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov said on Wednesday.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 05th September, 2018) Russian planes deployed at the Hmeimim airbase carried out strikes on the positions of the Nusra Front terrorist group (banned in Russia) in Syria's Idlib province, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov said on Wednesday.

"Same day [on September 4], four planes of the Russian aviation unit deployed at the Hmeimim airbase have carried out strikes on the targets of the Nusra Front terrorist group in the Idlib province with precision-guided munitions," Konashenkov said.

According to the spokesman, the strikes were carried out on the terrorists' storages where they kept drones, located outside settlements, as well as "detected sites of assault drones' launch to carry out terrorist attacks on the Russian Hmeimim airbase and settlements in the provinces of Aleppo and Hama."

"The Russian aviation carried out all strikes solely on the identified terrorists' objects, as confirmed through several channels, located far from settlements," Konashenkov said.

He added that two Su-34 jets had also destroyed a workshop where terrorists assembled drones and a warehouse of explosives for them.
