The Turkish army on Monday killed or captured three militants of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), which is listed as a terrorist organization in Turkey, during an operation in the southeastern province of Hakkari, local media reported.

A security source told the Anadolu news agency that the militants were spotted by a drone as they were planting a roadside bomb.

Turkish security forces carry out regular raids against PKK militants, who have been engaged in an armed conflict with Ankara since 1984. The operations are targeting militants linked to the organization on the Turkish territory, in the Iraqi Kurdistan region and Syria.

According to the Turkish Defense Ministry, the country's security forces have neutralized over 10,000 PKK members since July 2015.
