Head Of Gang Killed During Counterterrorism Operation In Russia's Dagestan - NAC

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 02nd September, 2018) Russian security forces carried out on Sunday a counterterrorism operation in the country's Republic of Dagestan, during which they killed a head of the gang, who was involved in attacks on Russian law enforcement officers, the National Anti-Terrorism Committee (NAC) said in a statement.

According to NAC, the counterterrorism operation regime was introduced in the Khasavyurt District at 8:10 p.m. (17:10 GMT) on Saturday when the security forces located the criminal in a forest area near the village of Toturbiykala. He refused to lay down arms and surrender and opened fire at the security forces.

"During a quick clash the criminal was killed. His personality was revealed, that is former head of the gang Abas Hubaev, who was involved in multiple attacks and murders of law enforcement officers and civilians, including in the attack on the Road Patrol Service near the Stal'skoye Village of the Kizilyurt District in July 2018," the statement read.

The NAC added that the security officers had also found an assault rifle, a pistol and ammunition. No victims among security officers or civilians were reported.
