The stunt was organized at the Parliament Square in Westminster.
Campaigners told Sputnik that the balloon was supposed to bring to light growing Islamophobia and knife assaults.
The mayor had failed to guarantee security in the city and now needed to go, one of the activists said.
The campaign went peacefully, with police monitoring the situation.
The yellow bikini was a reference to the ban Khan imposed in 2016 on body image ads on public transport. The mayor spoke at the time against an ad picturing a girl in bikini asking "Are you beach body ready?" According to Khan, such ads could "demean" women.
The Khan inflatable lifted off weeks after the city witnessed another balloon caricature depicting US President Donald Trump. During the president's visit to the United Kingdom, a huge blimp of Trump as an angry baby holding a smartphone, was flown in protest against his rhetoric and policies.
According to the Metropolitan Police data, crime in London saw a 6-percent rise over the 2017-2018 financial year.
