Google Doodle marks 88th birthday of Fatima Surayya Bajia

Lahore (Pakistan Point News – 1st September, 2018) Google is paying tribute to Pakistan’s legendary playwright Fatima Surayya Bajia in what would have been her 88th birthday.

Google has on Saturday dedicated a doodle to the legendary playwright who made Pakistan proud across the world.

The Google Doodle shows a smiling Bajia wearing a white and yellow sarree, and writing on a diary, with some books in the background.

Google has in the past paid tribute to Pakistan’s prominent personalities, including Mehdi Hassan, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Abdul Sattar Edhi, Noor Jehan, Nazia Hassan and others.

Bajia has written nearly 300 plays, focusing particularly on women, children, history and culture.

She received numerous awards, including the Pride of Performance Award for her services to the performing arts in Pakistan. She was awarded with Hilal-i-Imtiaz in 2012 by the then president of Pakistan.

Besides local awards, she also received the highest civil award of Japan.

She breathed her last on February 10, 2016 at the age of 85.
