Russia welcomes the positive diplomatic developments in the Central African Republic (CAR), considers it necessary to consolidate the positive processes, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Friday.

On Tuesday, the CAR's two main armed groups held a Russia-brokered peace meeting in Khartoum. The talks concluded on Wednesday with the signing of a declaration of understanding in which the groups committed themselves to peace.
"We noted the positive dynamics in other parts of Africa, namely, Southern Sudan, the Central African Republic and the Democratic Republic of the Congo," Lavrov told reporters following talks with Eritrean counterpart Osman Saleh.
The minister noted that in some situations there were positive developments hence "it is necessary to consolidate such positive processes in every possible way."
