"Secretary of State Michael R. Pompeo spoke yesterday with Masud Barzani, former President of the Kurdistan Region and head of the Kurdistan Democratic Party," the release said.� "He emphasized that the United States hopes to see a strong government that includes all communities and serves all of the Iraqi people."
Pompeo said the new government should proceed according to the country's constitutional timeline and reflect the views of the voters, the release added.
Pompeo and Barzani also discussed other recent political developments in both Iraq and the rest of the region, the release said.
