The Harry S. Truman carrier strike group (HSTCSG) set sail from the US state of Virginia to continue a deployment interrupted by a month in port for maintenance, the Navy announced in a press release on Tuesday.

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 28th August, 2018) The Harry S. Truman carrier strike group (HSTCSG) set sail from the US state of Virginia to continue a deployment interrupted by a month in port for maintenance, the Navy announced in a press release on Tuesday.

"HSTCSG will continue its deployment by conducting sustainment operations and carrier qualifications in the Atlantic and participating in dual-carrier operations with the USS Abraham Lincoln," the release said.

The strike group includes the Truman, nine squadrons of Carrier Air Wing One; guided-missile cruiser USS Normandy; and guided-missile destroyers Arleigh Burke and Forrest Sherman, the release added.

Following a brief three-month deployment that began in April, the strike group entered port at Naval Station Norfolk for a month of maintenance, training and war-fighting certifications, the release said.

The strike group initially deployed to the Atlantic and Mediterranean, according to published reports.
