Indian authorities have authorized the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for commercial purposes starting from December 1, the government said in a press release

NEW DELHI (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 28th August, 2018) Indian authorities have authorized the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for commercial purposes starting from December 1, the government said in a press release.

"The Union Minister of Civil Aviation Shri Suresh Prabhu announced the Drone Regulations 1.0 at a press conference ... He said, these regulations will enable the safe, commercial usage of drones starting December 1, 2018. Drone Regulations 1.0 are intended to enable visual line-of-sight daytime-only and a maximum of 400 ft altitude operations," the press release, issued on Monday, read.

All drones, except nano and those owned by the National Technical Research Organization and central intelligence agencies, are to be registered and given a unique identification number, according to the press release.

The government also established the so-called no drone zones at several locations, including airport area and strategic locations and military facilities, the press release said.
