Kazakhstan Has Not Been Asked to Host November Peace Talks on Syria - Foreign Ministry

The guarantor states of the ceasefire regime in Syria, namely Russia, Turkey and Iran, have not asked Kazakhstan to host the new round of peace talks on the Syrian crisis, the Kazakh Foreign Ministry told Sputnik on Tuesday.

ASTANA (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 28th August, 2018) The guarantor states of the ceasefire regime in Syria, namely Russia, Turkey and Iran, have not asked Kazakhstan to host the new round of peace talks on the Syrian crisis, the Kazakh Foreign Ministry told Sputnik on Tuesday.

So far, the guarantor countries have not officially made such request ... At the same time, in case of a decision by the guarantor countries to hold additional rounds of inter-Syrian talks on the Astana platform, Kazakhstan is ready to consider this issue in a positive manner, the ministry's spokesman said.

Kazakhstan remains committed to promotion of the Syrian crisis settlement, the spokesman noted.

Previous nine rounds of talks on Syria were held in the Kazakh capital of Astana. At the 10th Astana format meeting, which took place in the Russian resort city of Sochi in July, the sides pledged to hold next talks in November. Moscow offered to host the meeting in Sochi again, but the venue has not been finally determined yet.
