FBI Failure To Produce Report On Florida School Shooting 'Unacceptable' - Senator

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 28th August, 2018) US Senator Charles Grassley in a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray criticized the agency for failing to provide details on the agency's internal process failures relating to the deadly Parkland, Florida shooting in February.

"This is unacceptable. It has been six months since the Parkland shooting, and the FBI still has not produced a report accounting for its actions or failure to act, as the case may be," Grassley said on Monday. "This report is a necessary prerequisite to any meaningful briefing."

Grassley said the Senate Judiciary Committee requests FBI Deputy Director David Bowdich to appear for a briefing no later than September 14 and that the FBI provide the final report no less than 48 hours before the briefing.

On February 14, former student Nikolas Cruz opened fire at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High school in Parkland, Florida, killing 17 people. The gunman legally purchased an AR-15 rifle a year prior to the massacre.

The FBI and local law enforcement came under criticism after they failed to act on credible tips that could have prevented the incident.
