Russian, Chinese Troops Practice Tactical Assault Force Landing at SCO Drills

The Russian and Chinese military transport helicopters have performed landing of a tactical assault force as part of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization's (SCO) counterterrorism exercise, dubbed Peace Mission 2018, in Russia's Chelyabinsk region, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Monday.

YEKATERINBURG (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 27th August, 2018) The Russian and Chinese military transport helicopters have performed landing of a tactical assault force as part of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization's (SCO) counterterrorism exercise, dubbed Peace Mission 2018, in Russia's Chelyabinsk region, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Monday.

"Russian and Chinese army air support units practiced the landing of a tactical assault force using the touch-down method at the SCO international drills Peace Mission 2018 at the Chebarkul training range," the statement said.

The drills involved eight Mi-8 helicopters of the Russian Armed Forces and four Mi-171 helicopters of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, which landed the assault force on the roof of a building in the training area.

On August 22-29, the Chebarkul training range hosts joint SCO counterterrorism exercise. Military authorities as well as units of land forces and air forces of Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, China, India and Pakistan are taking part in the drills.

The Peace Mission SCO drills are held every two years involving 3,000 troops and over 500 pieces of military hardware.
