India Defense Contract Payments Problems Addressed - Russian Military Cooperation Service

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 24th August, 2018) Russia and India are addressing problems with payments on current defense contracts, the Russian Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC) told Sputnik on Friday.

Earlier, the Vedomosti newspaper, citing its sources, said that payments on the part of India on most arms contracts with Russia have not been received since April 2018. The newspaper said it is due to sanctions imposed in line with the Countering America's Adversaries Through Sanctions Act (CAATSA) against Russian state arms exporter Rosoboronexport, which threaten the so-called secondary sanctions to its partners.

"There are certain problems connected with payments under current contracts that have arisen for reasons not depending on us or the Indian side. These problems are being resolved. We find ways of systemic settlement of this issue," the FSMTC said.
