MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 24th August, 2018) Russia's possible response to a new round of US sanctions may be not mirror, Russia cannot compete with the United States in economy, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said.
"Response will be not necessary a 100-percent mirror one. We cannot compete with the United States in the economic sphere, as we are in different weight categories. We deliberately leave uncertainty in the issue of our response, because announcing something in advance will weaken our positions," Ryabkov said in an interview to the International Affair magazine, released on Friday.
The diplomat noted Russia could possibly expand its blacklist of US politicians in response to the US sanctions.
"Response to sanctions could by symmetrical, asymmetrical, we can expand our own lists of politicians targeted by sanctions. US officials, who consider themselves to be divine judges of the world, are not indifferent to it," Ryabkov said.
