Russian Defense Ministry To Allocate $1.7Bln For Building Military Infrastructure In 2019

KUBINKA (Russia) (Pakistan Point news / Sputnik - 24th August, 2018) The Russian Defense Ministry will earmark about 117 billion rubles ($1.7 billion) to construct military facilities across the country in 2019, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Timur Ivanov said Thursday on the sidelines of the Army-2018 defense industry forum in the Moscow region.

"This year, about 117 billion rubles is allocated on the construction [of military infrastructure], and a similar sum [will be allocated] next year," Ivanov said at a round table on military construction in the country.

The deputy minister added that nearly 3,500 military facilities will be put into operation in 2018.

"In general, the volume of investment worth 1 trillion rubles for 10 years was approved for the first time within the state armament program. The program began to work this year, the first bulk of investment is already in operation," Ivanov said.

He explained that one of the main tasks set by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu was to synchronize the supply of arms and military equipment, and the construction of the necessary facilities for them.
