Russia Registers 14 Ceasefire Violations In Syria Over Past 24 Hours - Defense Ministry

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 23rd August, 2018) The Russian side of the Russian-Turkish commission monitoring the implementation of the ceasefire regime in Syria has registered 14 truce breaches over the past 24 hours, while the Turkish side has recorded five violations, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Thursday.

"The situation in the de-escalation zones is assessed as stable. Over the last 24 hours, the Russian party of the Russia-Turkey Commission on violations of the Joint Agreement has registered 14 cases of firing in the provinces of Latakia (7) and Aleppo (7). The Turkish side has registered five cases of ceasefire violations in the provinces of Hama (3), Idlib (1) and Aleppo (1)," the ministry's daily bulletin read.

Over the past 24 hours, the Russian center for Syrian reconciliation has held one humanitarian operation in Al Qunaitra province. Russian medics have also provided assistance to 258 civilians, the ministry added.

"Over the last 24 hours the Russian Centre for Reconciliation has held one humanitarian action: in Maariya Arda (al- Quneitra province) people received 900 food sets with a total weight of 3.75 tons," the bulletin said.

The number of armed formations claiming that they observe the ceasefire regime has not changed, standing at 234, according to the bulletin.

Russia, alongside Iran and Turkey, is a guarantor of the ceasefire regime in Syria. Moscow has also been assisting Damascus both through supporting the struggle against terrorist groups and providing humanitarian aid to the residents of the crisis-torn country.
