Holocaust Victims Memorials Vandalized In Estonia - Reports

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 23rd August, 2018) A group of unidentified people vandalized numerous memorials of Holocaust victims in Estonia, local media reported on Wednesday.

According to ERR news broadcaster, the incident took place over the weekend at Kalevi-Liiva, Harju county, where thousands of Jews from Central Europe were killed by Nazis and Estonian collaborators during World War II.

The memorials were tagged with Nazi symbols, anti-Semitic statements, while some of them were physically damaged.

Local authorities have confirmed the act of vandalism in the area.

The Jewish community of Estonia has already expressed outrage over the incident.

Up to 6,000 Jews were killed in Kalevi-Liiva in 1942-1943. Roma and Soviet war prisoners were executed at the scene by Nazis as well.
