Moldovan Economy Ministry Refutes Reports About Refusal To Sign New Contract With Gazprom

CHISINAU (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 22nd August, 2018) Media reports about Moldova's alleged refusal to sign a new contract with Russian energy giant Gazprom are untrue, the Moldovan Economy and Infrastructure Ministry's press service said on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, media reported citing Moldovan Economy Minister Chiril Gaburici that the republic's government would not conclude new gas supplies contracts with Gazprom, but rather wait for construction of a new pipeline that would link Moldova to Romania.

"Media reports about Minister Chiril Gaburici saying that the Republic of Moldova would not sign a new contract with Gazprom are false. The minister said at the tv program that the country was looking for alternative sources of gas supplies to create competition," the ministry's statement read, as quoted by the Bani.md news portal.
