Russia's United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) will build an expeditionary ship, which will combine the functions of an amphibious assault ship and a helicopter carrier, USC President Alexei Rakhmanov told Sputnik on Tuesday.
KUBINKA (Moscow region) (Pakistan Point news / Sputnik - 21st August, 2018) Russia's United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) will build an expeditionary ship, which will combine the functions of an amphibious assault ship and a helicopter carrier, USC President Alexei Rakhmanov told Sputnik on Tuesday.
"We will build an expeditionary ship within the framework of the current arms procurement program, a ship that will combine the functions of a helicopter carrier and an amphibious assault ship. It can also house a mobile hospital. It should be a universal ship," Rakhmanov said at the Army-2018 forum outside Moscow.
Russian Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov earlier said that Russia will build amphibious assault ships, which will be capable of carrying helicopters, landing craft and amphibious armored vehicles.
