Russia, US Discussing Boost in Flights Between Kamchatka, Alaska - Russian Embassy

Russian and US representatives have discussed possible expansion of flights of Russia's Yakutia Airlines to Alaska during the Russian American Pacific Partnership's (RAPP) meeting in Anchorage, local authorities support the initiative, the Russian Embassy in the United States told Sputnik.

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 21st August, 2018) Russian and US representatives have discussed possible expansion of flights of Russia's Yakutia Airlines to Alaska during the Russian American Pacific Partnership's (RAPP) meeting in Anchorage, local authorities support the initiative, the Russian Embassy in the United States told Sputnik.

Alaska's Anchorage hosted the RAPP 23rd Annual Meeting on July 25-26. The event was participated by Russian and US government officials, business representatives and public organizations.

"The Yakutia Airlines operates seasonal flight service between Alaska and Kamchatka. The prospect of expanding flights of this airline, increasing the number of destinations for flights from Russia, and, possibly, boost in the number of airlines [that will operate flights from Russia to Alaska] have been discussed on the [RAPP] sidelines," the diplomatic mission said.

The embassy noted that the Alaskan authorities supported such initiative.

As of today, the Yakutia Airlines is the only carrier that operates flight from Russia to Alaska.
