Dunford, Lithuanian Military Chief Discuss Plans For NATO Training Exercises - Spokesman

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 16th August, 2018) Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff General Joseph Dunford met with his Lithuanian counterpart Lieutenant General Vytautas Zukas for talks on Baltic security and upcoming NATO training involving the two nations, Joint Chiefs spokesman Patrick Ryder said in a press release.

"The two military leaders discussed a range of issues, including the current security environment in the Baltic region, interoperability, NATO combined training at the National Training Center and training exercises planned for this summer," Ryan said on Wednesday.

NATO has increased its presence in the Baltic region as part of a military buildup throughout Eastern Europe in response to tensions with Russia that were triggered by a 2014 coup in Ukraine.

Russia has warned that the Western alliances military activities in the region are destabilizing and provocative.
