Russian President Vladimir Putin plans to attend Austrian Foreign Minister Karin Kneissl's wedding on his way to Berlin on Saturday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday.
SOCHI (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 15th August, 2018) Russian President Vladimir Putin plans to attend Austrian Foreign Minister Karin Kneissl's wedding on his way to Berlin on Saturday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday.
Putin is set to visit the German capital for talks with Chancellor Angela Merkel.
"Yes, [Putin] will stop by on his way to Berlin," Peskov said.
According to Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov, Kneissl invited Putin to the wedding during the Russian president's visit to Vienna in June.
Kneissl is a member of Austria's coalition government formed by the Austrian People's Party (OVP) and the right-wing Freedom Party of Austria (FPO).
Following an attack on former Russian double agent Sergei Skripal in the United Kingdom on March 4, Kneissl said Vienna was prepared to act as a mediator between Russia and the West amid tensions over the poisoning incident.
