Over 60% of English, Welsh Students Say $11,440 Annual Tuition Fees Unjustified - Poll

Despite the fact that the majority of students in England and Wales are satisfied with the quality of education they receive, 62 percent of them believe that the up to 9,000 pound ($11,440) annual tuition fees are not justified, a poll conducted by the YouGov research and data company showed on Wednesday.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 15th August, 2018) Despite the fact that the majority of students in England and Wales are satisfied with the quality of education they receive, 62 percent of them believe that the up to 9,000 pound ($11,440) annual tuition fees are not justified, a poll conducted by the YouGov research and data company showed on Wednesday.

Only 13 percent of students agreed with the statement suggesting that the standard of education and increased salaries graduates earn meant that English and Welsh degrees were worth the high tuition fees.

At the same time, 14 percent of respondents supported neither belief, while 11 percent were unable to give a definitive answer.

The survey also showed that the overwhelming majority of students (86 percent) were satisfied with the quality of their degrees, with 70 percent expecting to be better off financially because of the diploma they had. However, 14 percent said their degree would not make a difference to their lifetime earnings.

The poll was conducted among 857 students at English and Welsh universities on June 4-5.
