US Attorneys General Urge Trump Admin Not To Repeal Clean Water Rule - New York Atty Gen

A coalition of 12 US Attorneys General filed comments calling on the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to abandon a proposal to repeal clean water regulations, New York Attorney General Barbara Underwood announced in a press release on Tuesday.

NEW YORK (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 14th August, 2018) A coalition of 12 US Attorneys General filed comments calling on the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to abandon a proposal to repeal clean water regulations, New York Attorney General Barbara Underwood announced in a press release on Tuesday.

"New Yorkers health, environment, and economy depend on clean water," Underwood said. "Yet the Trump EPA continues to turn its back on the science and law, threatening New Yorks decades-long fight to ensure our residents access to safe, healthy water."

The comments follow the lawsuit filed by the New York attorney general over Trump administration's decision to repeal the Clean Water Rule.

The attorneys general argued in their comments that the repeal of the rule and re-establishment of previous regulations "would be arbitrary and capricious and not in accordance with law." The coalition called on the EPA not to proceed further with the repeal.

Attorneys General of US states of California, Connecticut, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington, and the District of Columbia were part of the coalition.
